We'd rather say that plainly than put a dead play button on a page. The library is being made now, and when the stream is up it will run here, 24/7, on repeat.
And when it does: it will never start itself. You press play or you don't, and there's always a visible way to turn it off, on every page, one click from wherever you happen to be. A station that starts talking the moment you open a door isn't comfort, it's an ambush.
Why 279.3
A frequency that isn't quite on the dial
279 is the last channel on the longwave band. We broadcast at 279.3, just past the end of it. Longwave is the one that bends around the curve of a planet and travels furthest after dark.
279.3 Hz is also a note that isn't on the piano, about thirteen cents sharp of C♯, in the crack between C♯ and D. A station for people who don't quite land on the standard keys either.
